NEWTOWN SQUARE, PENNSYLVANIA, USA – The Project Management Institute (PMI) and the American Management Association (AMA) are offering a Web presentation on 30 April 2008 from noon to 1 p.m. on the importance of utilizing project, program and portfolio management to improve organizational performance. Registration is required and may be made at www.amanet.org; see AMA events.

This is the first time PMI and The American Management Association have developed a joint program, and we are pleased with the level of interest that it has generated,” said Larry Bull, director of organizational products for PMI, and the presenter for the program. “Those tuning in will learn how the principles of project management, when applied correctly, can enhance an organization’s business performance. We also will talk about how program and portfolio management at the strategic level and project management at the tactical level can make an organization more innovative.  The third focus of the presentation will be on how to measure project management successes.”

Bull said case studies will be used to underscore key points and to make the principles and theory relevant to everyday practices. Key benefits that will be highlighted will include the productivity benefit, talent retention and development benefits, customer satisfaction benefits and bottom-line/financial benefits.

According to the AMA, the Webcast is significant because it addresses turning corporate strategies into corporate execution by identifying the bridge between project management techniques in an enterprise wide system.
