ATLANTA GEORGIA,
USA – Project Management Institute (PMI®), the world’s leading membership association for the project management profession, has awarded The PMI Pune-Deccan Chapter in India with the PMI Component of the Year Award – Chapter Category.
A PMI component is a chartered subsidiary of the PMI organization composed of PMI members. PMI Components include:
- 260 chapters (geographically based community)
- specific interest group (SIG) (virtual interest-area community) or
- college (community centered around a knowledge area in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide).
Based in Pune, Maharashtra, India, the Pune-Deccan Chapter has 490 members. The chapter was chartered in 2005 and has had an 85 percent growth rate in membership. In addition to working with other chapters with a speaker exchange program, the Pune-Deccan Chapter has expanded its education programs including a train-the-trainer program.
Pune-Deccan Programs Director Rahul Sudame, PMP, accepted the award for the chapter.
PMI Component of the Year Awards were presented on 6 October 2007 during the 2007 Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with the PMI Global Congress—North America in Atlanta.
