Lesley Bakker is responsible for Project Management Institute’s global brand marketing, communications, public relations, online strategy, and publishing. A skilled director of brand development and awareness for not-for-profit association brands as well as for-profit business entities, Ms. Bakker joined PMI in 2009 after most recently leading the marketing and public relations efforts for the Storage Industry Networking Association.
Ms. Bakker has amassed nearly 20 years of communications experience in business-to-business marketing, public relations, publishing, internal communications and other communications disciplines in the medical publishing, pharmaceutical, information technology and healthcare industries. Previous experience also includes progressively responsible positions at Unisys Corporation, McKesson, Chapman & Hall (a division of Thompson Science) and W.B. Saunders Company.
Ms. Bakker graduated magna cum laude from Dickinson College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies. She did additional studies at New York University and the University of Pennsylvania. A native of the United States’ eastern seaboard, Ms. Bakker enjoys spending her off-duty time with her husband and children, ages 10 and 15. She is also a member of the American Society of Association Executives.
