Seattle, Washington, USA – Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading not-for-profit advocacy association for the project management profession, today announced it has awarded International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) its 2006 PMI Professional Development Provider of the Year Award in the Corporate category. The award honors new professional development provider organizations that integrate project management knowledge and practices into their day to day activities and track, through the introduction of clearly-defined measurement standards, their individual and organizational performance.
Since November 1996, the IBM Project Management Center of Excellence (PM/COE) has managed its executive charter to drive IBM to become a project based enterprise. The PM/COE promotes project management to a core competence in IBM worldwide by assisting its business units to apply and integrate project management into all core processes and systems. To gain traction and build support for this transformation, IBM invests in annual project management curriculum updates to ensure the latest levels of professional practice, reflecting both internal and external perspectives, are taught. The curriculum team annually creates the Knowledge Refresh for PM Professionals to update IBM project managers on the state of the project management profession.
The PMI Professional Development Provider of the Year Award in the Corporate category was presented on 21 October during the Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with PMI Global Congress 2006—North America in Seattle, Washington, USA.
