Seattle, Washington, USA – Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading not-for-profit advocacy association for the project management profession, today announced it has awarded Mark Hustak, PMP, the Institute’s 2005 Distinguished Contribution Award. The award recognizes and honors individuals who contribute to the advancement of the project management profession and PMI.
Mr. Hustak is an executive partner with Paradigm Consulting Group Inc. He has over 28 years of business and IT experience, including senior executive management, strategic planning, business analysis, market development and implementation of large-scale systems integration and outsourcing solutions. He has held previous positions with IBM Global Services, ISM Information Systems Management, Management Systems Limited and Saskatchewan Government Systems Centre.
He earned the Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential in 1998 and holds a Bachelor of Administration degree from the University of Regina.
As a partner in Paradigm, Mr. Hustak is responsible for the Consulting Services practice and business development for Paradigm’s Saskatchewan and Manitoba locations. As consultant, he is responsible for conducting various types of assignments for clients, including: project management, business strategy development, business process improvement, vendor selection, and contract development and negotiation.
In 2002 the CEO of the 2005 Canada Summer Games identified the need for project management across the entire organization. He approached Mr. Hustak as someone well known for establishing project management offices in the community, and Mr. Hustak took up the challenge to assist in creating a project environment for the games.
Mr. Hustak served as a volunteer in the position of vice president, Planning/Project Management, for the 2005 Canada Summer Games for three years. He was responsible for leading the development and operation of the Planning/Project Management Division and was instrumental in using project management practices for the first time in this national sporting event, and the outstanding success of the Games was due in part to these practices.
The 2005 Distinguished Contribution Award was presented on 21 October during the Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with PMI Global Congress 2006—North America in Seattle, Washington, USA.
