Seattle, Washington, USA – Project Management Institute (PMI), the world’s leading not-for-profit advocacy association for the project management profession, today announced it has awarded Paul Shaltry, PMP, the Institute’s 2005 Distinguished Contribution Award. The award recognizes and honors individuals who contribute to the advancement of the project management profession and PMI.

Mr. Shaltry has been a PMI member since 1993, and he earned the Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential in 1994 through the PMI Central Ohio Chapter, where he has held several supporting roles.

He has been a four-term member of the PMI Research Member Advisory Group (MAG). He served as the research track chair for PMI Symposiums in 2001 and 2002, and is an inaugural class member of the PMI Leadership Institute. He served as deputy program manager for PMI’s Program and Portfolio Management Standards initiative. Currently, he is a member of the PMI Standards Program Consensus Body.

Mr. Shaltry has 33 years of business experience in project and program management, line management and consulting. He has developed broad perspective on business challenges garnered through assignments in R&D, engineering, financial services, IT, manufacturing, energy and new product development environments, among others.

A consultant since 1986, he has developed expertise in enterprise capability development, including project portfolio management, project management office, project methodology and related change effectiveness leadership and mentoring.

Prior to his consulting experience, Mr. Shaltry held positions as the director of project development for a top-five national environmental engineering consulting company, an account manager for Battelle Laboratories, and senior administrative and professional staff member managing multi-year projects for a major university’s national educational management R&D center.

Mr. Shaltry holds bachelors and masters degrees from the Ohio State University. He is a member of the Product Development and Management Association.

The 2005 Distinguished Contribution Award was presented on 21 October during the Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with PMI Global Congress 2006—North America in Seattle, Washington, USA.
