ATLANTA, GEORGIA, USA – Project Management Institute (PMI®), the world’s leading membership association for the project management profession, has awarded Julie M. Wilson of Laguna Woods, California, USA, with the PMI Fellow Award - PMI’s highest and most prestigious honor. The Fellow Award recognizes a PMI member who has made sustained and significant contributions to PMI and the project management profession for more than a decade.

Wilson is practice executive and principal for IBM Services’ Global Technology Services.  Her responsibilities include directing an American-based complex management practice – one that manages projects and programs as well as assists during account transitions and transformations for IBM’s top clients.  Her experience includes the insurance, banking, healthcare, government, computing, retail and telecommunications industries.  She has led projects and programs addressing systems integration, applications development, acquisition/mergers, product development and package integration.

Prior to joining IBM, Wilson’s previous affiliations included Lincoln Financial Group, County of Fresno, Pacific Life Insurance, AT&T and Vanstar Corporation.  In addition to being a certified Project Management Professional (PMP®) and an IBM Board Certified Executive Project Manager, she is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI).

She earned her bachelor’s degree in information technology from the University of Pheonix following undergraduate studies at Indiana and Purdue universities. 

Wilson is a founding member of the PMI Orange County Chapter and has served in various positions including chapter president.  She was inducted as a PMI Orange County Chapter Fellow in 1996. She served for six years on the PMI Board and co-founded the Information Systems’ SIG (Specific Interest Group) following proposing that the PMI Board officially recognize SIGs.  She has served as chair of the Information Systems’ SIG.

She is an instructor for University of California, Irvine Campus, and sits on its Project Management Program Advisory Committee.  Wilson also is on the board of governors for the Irvine Valley College Foundation.

PMI Fellow Awards  were presented on 6 October 2007 during the 2007 Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with the PMI Global Congress—North America in Atlanta.
