Research at PMI

The PMI® Research Program, formed in 1997, works to advance the science and profession of project management -- an essential part of PMI’s mission to make project management indispensable for business results. What’s more, advanced processes, best practices and academic insights translate to better on-the-job performance for you and your teams.

The PMI® Research Department has sponsored research projects since 1997. Each year, the group welcomes new proposals for projects. Find out more about current research efforts and past research projects

The PMI® Research Department is always on the look-out for ground-breaking research projects that support its mission of expanding the project, program, and portfolio management body of knowledge. You can submit your idea to our Research Department or share with others in our Online Research Community

Also, learn more about the Researching the Value of Project Management multi-year study commissioned by PMI and conducted by researchers Janice Thomas and Mark Mullaly, PMP, through Athabasca University in Athabasca, Alberta, Canada. The study looked at more than 60 case studies from a globally dispersed array of industries.
