It is with deep sadness that PMI announces the recent death of Eric Jenett, one of the five founders of PMI.

Mr. Jenett was PMI's president in 1971, chair in 1972 and secretary from 1975 to 1976. He was a founding member and former president and chair of the PMI Houston Chapter, which was PMI’s first chapter. Mr. Jenett was honored by PMI in 1975 for his distinguished contributions to the Institute.

He presented at numerous PMI seminars and symposiums, served on a number of panels, and published a variety of articles in the Project Management Quarterly, later to become the Project Management Journal®, and several other technical publications.

After receiving his master’s degree in chemical engineering from Columbia University, Mr. Jenett spent the majority of his career with Brown and Root Corporation, now Kellog, Brown & Root, in Houston, Texas, USA. He retired in 1989 from his role as corporate vice president. During his career, he worked on a wide variety of project types in several countries.

The PMI Eric Jenett Project Management Excellence Award is named in his honor.  He was 88.
