Volunteer Opportunities
Get involved. Make a difference. Be a volunteer.
"One of the greatest benefits that I have personally gained from my volunteer activities has been the network of people I have come to know."
— Herman Walter, PMP, United States
Make your mark on PMI and the profession. As a member, you can volunteer to work on, and to lead activities that advance the profession and the Institute.
Volunteering is an excellent way to expand your contact network, and to increase your skills and qualifications as a leader.
Act locally and serve a chapter near you. Act globally and be part of PMI communities, teams and projects with worldwide reach.
Earn PDUs. If you hold a PMI credential, your volunteer activities can earn professional development units to help you meet your continuing certification requirements.
We need you. Volunteers are the lifeblood and foundation of PMI. Your participation enables us to serve, grow and advance the project management profession across the globe.

It is PMI’s practice to not select/appoint individuals for PMI Volunteer Leadership positions who are already engaged in a leadership role within PMI or its Communities (Chapters, COPs). This is to reflect the level of commitment needed for such volunteer leadership roles and the desire to encourage participation as volunteer leaders by as wide a range of individuals as possible. PMI may agree to an exception to this practice, in writing, where allowing a volunteer to hold such dual leadership roles addresses a PMI need and furthers the best interests of PMI. This limitation does not apply to participation on content development teams in a non-leadership role.
Please send requests for exceptions to volunteer@pmi.org
