James R. Snyder International Student Paper of the Year Award (ISPA)
This research paper award recognizes excellence in student development of original concepts in project management. Papers are selected based upon the research and creative effort that are best directed toward advancing the concepts, tools and techniques of managing project-oriented tasks.
One winner from each of four regions (North America, Latin America, Europe-Middle East-Africa [EMEA], and Asia-Pacific) will be selected annually.
The winning papers will be published in PMI’s academic-research quarterly, Project Management Journal and presented at a session of the winner’s respective regional PMI Global Congress. In addition, each winning author will receive a cash award of US$500.

Eligibility:
Any individual who is or was a student in good standing at an institute of higher learning during the period covered by the nomination.
Qualifications:
Any paper dealing with an original concept and related to any aspect of the management of projects will be considered. Papers must be written by a single author, supported by an active faculty advisor, and not accepted by any other publication.
Nomination Procedure:
Any qualified student may submit a paper to become eligible for an award during that year (see deadlines above). The paper should contain the title, propose the subject and outline the concept(s) to be addressed. Papers must contain the author’s name, address, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address (if any), institution, major course of study, anticipated degree/certificate and date of completion.
Selection:
Final selection of the winning papers will be made by a panel of experts in project management. These experts will place emphasis on originality of presented concept(s), applicability to the field of project management, practical applications of the concept, and suitability for presentation at one of PMI’s Global Congresses. One International Student Paper Award will be awarded at each of PMI’s four global congresses. Presentation of the award will be determined by PMI Educational Foundation.
Those candidates whose papers are selected for presentation will be notified via formal letter. PMI Educational Foundation reserves the right to elect not to present an award on the basis of papers received.
The Panel:
The panel will consist of project management practitioners.
Presentation and Recognition:
The International Student Paper of the Year Award is formally presented at a PMI Global Congress. Photographs and biographical information of the International Student Paper of the Year Award recipients will be published in PMI and PMIEF publications.
