Why Should I Take This Course?
The body of research supporting project-based learning initiatives in K-12 education is exploding. The results agree: students learning through projects show meaningful increases in communication, peer collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and overall engagement in learning activities. The power of an early education in project management can build an unparalleled confidence in students’ ability to learn, to work together, and to contribute to something greater than themselves throughout their education, careers, and lives. This course will give educators the skills they need to use project management tools and help them to implement a project-based learning culture in the classroom.

The course is focused on what you need today, to get your projects started now, to have a sense of control and confidence. Learn pragmatic techniques to complete more projects on-time and on-budget.  Understand how to overcome the obstacles to project success. Learn techniques and procedures for effective communications to proactively identify issues, set expectations and to implement project changes.

Attendees will receive a Cadence Certificate of Completion for attending the course. Attendees will also receive 24 education contact hours toward the formal education requirements of the application for the Project Management Professional (PMP®) or Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) credential available through the Project Management Institute.

Course Overview:
The Cadence approach is to keep it practical and simple. Participants are actively involved in class through workshops, exercises and group discussions. Immediately apply the tools and techniques to your real projects. Participate in team building workshops using proven tools and techniques that can be directly applied to K-12 curricula. The Cadence Methodology is easily transposed to the classroom environment, giving educators the coursework they need to integrate project management in their schools. Course content is aligned with A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) developed by the Project Management Institute.

Course Outcomes:

  • Develop a project plan and implement with a sense of confidence and control
  • Decrease frustration on your projects
  • Work on REAL projects in class to produce draft project plans
  • Develop expert strategies for managing and empowering teams
  • Learn the power of influence, accountability, and authority
