  1. Are there any prerequisites for the PMI eLearning courses?

    There are no prerequisites for the courses except familiarity with the PMBOK® Guide standard.

  2. Which web-based self-study course is right for me?

    There are several PMI eLearning courses from which to choose;

    Introduction to Project Management: Project Movie A foundational web-based self-study 12-module course that provides an interactive introduction to the project management processes, tools and techniques covered in the PMBOK® Guide-Fourth Edition.

    Applying the Fundamentals of Project Management An enhanced version of the foundational Introduction to Project Management: Project Movie course, with additional features including a workbook giving you a unique opportunity to apply real-world knowledge, and a 160-question assessment that mimics the CAPM Exam.

    Project Simulation: Alaskan Recovery Series An intermediate web-based self-study course based upon the PMBOK®Guide—Fourth Edition knowledge areas. These courses use the scenario of an oceanographic archeological expedition to solve problems and practice activities in project management.

  3. What are the minimum system requirements?

    Browser:Windows Internet Explorer 6 and later , Firefox® 2.x (Note: Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 Firefox 4 and Firefox 5 are not currently compatible!)

    Internet Connection: 56 KB Modem as minimum, 128 KB recommended

    Memory: 256 MB memory minimum, 512 MB recommended

    Operating System: Windows 2000 / XP

    Plug-in: Macromedia Flash 7.0 plug in

    Processor: Pentium II 300, Pentium III recommended

    Speakers (optional): Multimedia speakers or headphones

    Screen Resolution: The screen resolution for eLearning products is 1024 X 768px

  4. How long do I have to complete a PMI eLearning course?

    You have one-full year from the date of purchase to complete a course. If you complete the course before the year expiration, you will continue to have access to the course for one year from date of purchase.

  5. Are the PMI eLearning courses available in any language?

    Most PMI eLearning courses are only available in English, but check the eLearning website for translation availability.

  6. Do I have to be a credential holder to purchase a PMI eLearning course?

    No, a PMI credential is not required to take an eLearning course, however, only PMP®, PgMP®, PMI-RMP® & PMI-SP® credential holders can earn PDUs.

  7. From where did the course content come?

    PMI eLearning courses are created by PMI Instructional Designers in collaboration with volunteers or vendors, depending on the product. All characters are fictional, and are not intended to represent any persons either living or dead. Story lines are also fictional, and do not represent any actual industries, companies, projects or planned projects. Where possible, supporting information has been researched and an effort has been made to adhere to realistic facts to support project documentation and the user experience.

  9. Is there an instructor I can contact if I have a project management question?

    No. There is no instructor to contact if you have questions about the content of this course. We suggest using the PMBOK®Guide as a reference guide.

  10. Are there tests?

    Some courses contain a test; however all courses contain exercises and decision points. Scores are not recorded. You must complete each exercise and decision point to complete the course. You will receive full credit for the course when you complete it the first time. We encourage you to start the course again explore all our PMI eLearning course has to offer. Note that by rerunning the course your PDU and CEU credit will not be affected.

  11. I saved the course site as a Favorite on my browser. When I attempted to access the site, I was presented with a login page. Why am I getting an error message with my login information?

    You must return to your My PMI page on pmi.org to access the course. Go to pmi.org, log in, go to My PMI, and Access your eLearning Products. This will take you to My Homepage. Click on the title of the course you purchased in the Online Courses or Curriculum section.

PDUs/Contact Hours

  1. What PDUs can I earn from a PMI eLearning course?

    Individuals with the PMP® and PgMP® credentials who successfully complete a PMI eLearning course can claim the PDUs/Contact Hours and CEUs specified in the course description. The amount will vary by course. Individuals with the PMI-RMP®& PMI-SP® credentials should review the number of PDUs available to them when they purchase their course as the number of PDUs offered may differ depending on the course.

    You will need to submit a claim following standard PDU claim submission procedures.

  1. How do I register and take a PMI eLearning course?

    You must be fully registered on PMI.org to purchase and access the course. Go to pmi.org, log in, go to My PMI, and Access your eLearning Products. This will take you to My Homepage. Click on the title of the course you purchased in the Online Courses or Curriculum section.

  2. Where can I purchase a PMI eLearning course?

    The PMI eLearning courses are available in the PMI.org Marketplace. You can also find the courses in the Professional Development/eLearning section.

  3. Where can I access the course after purchase?

    A link to the Project Simulation course is available to users registered at PMI.org. Go to pmi.org, log in, go to My PMI, and Access your eLearning Products. This will take you to My Homepage. Click on the title of the course you purchased in the Online Courses section.

  4. Can I purchase a membership at the same time I purchase the course?

    Yes, you can purchase membership in Marketplace at the same time you purchase a PMI eLearning course. The membership discount will be applied to the course along with the membership. However, please note, the membership discount will not be applied to previously purchased Marketplace products.

  5. How soon will I have access to the course once purchased?

    You may access the course immediately after purchase. However, delivery of your course may take a few minutes, depending upon internet connection and speed.

Functionality

  1. How do I access the course?

    A link to the PMI eLearning course is available from the My PMI tab. Go to pmi.org, log in, go to My PMI, and Access your eLearning Products. This will take you to My Homepage. Click on the title of the course you purchased in the Online Courses or Curriculum section.

  2. I clicked on Launch Course, but the course did not launch.

    Check to make sure that you have disabled your pop-up blocker.

  3. What happens if I exit the course before completion?

    You can exit the course at anytime and your progress will be saved.

  4. How do I determine the status of my course?

    The My Transcript page, available from My PMI > Access Your Learning Products > My Homepage, displays the overall status of your course. When you purchase the course, your status will be "Not Started" or "Not Enrolled". Once you have accessed the course, the Status will change to "Started". When you have completed a module of the course, the Status will change to "Complete" for that module. Module status will show in the Curriculum page for this product.

    You have access to this course for 1 year. After one year from your date of purchase, your access will expire and the hyperlinks allowing you to launch a module will not function, although the module titles will still display.

  5. Can I stop and start the course whenever I want?

    Yes, you may stop the course in the middle and return to it when you are ready. You can enter the course where you left off when you return to the course.

  6. Can I access the course after I complete it?

  7. Can I print or download the course?

    No, you cannot download the course.

Certificate

  1. Is there a minimum passing score?

    No. The only requirement to receive your certificate of completion for a PMI eLearning course is to access every scene and complete every exercise and decision point in the course. Once you access the last page of the course, and exit to return to the My Transcript, you will receive access to a certificate of completion.

  2. Will I receive a certificate?

    You will receive a completion certificate once you complete the course.

  3. How soon after passing the course can I access the certificate?

    Your course "Status" on your Curriculum Page is updated within minutes. Once you complete the course, your Status will show as "Complete". This will activate the Download Certificate link. Please print a copy of the certificate for your records. The information needed to claim PDUs will be displayed in a separate document within the course curriculum.

  4. Where is the certificate located and how do I obtain a copy for my records?

    You may access the certificate from the My Transcript page, available at My PMI > Access Your Learning Products > My Homepage. Select My Transcript from My Workspace on the top menu. Click on the drop down menu and select Certificate and "Go" on the last module in the course to open the certificate. The certificate is available only in PDF format. You may print the certificate and download a copy to store electronically.

  5. I printed my certificate, but it is cut off. How can I print my certificate so it is not cut off?

    Make sure that the "Choose Paper Source by PDF page size" is NOT checked in the Print window.

  6. Is the PMBOK® Guide—Fourth Edition included with the course?

    The PMBOK® Guide—Fourth Edition is not included with most courses, however a digital version of this standard is included with the Introduction to Project Management: Project Movie and Applying the Fundamentals of Project Management courses.
