PMBOK Guide Errata Sheets

PMBOK® Guide–Fourth Edition Errata Sheets

As part of our continued commitment to the project management community, PMI has posted the errata to A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)—Fourth Edition to its Web site. PMI always strives to produce quality materials, and appreciates your patience and understanding. Any additional corrections will be posted to this location.

This errata sheet pertains to the first printing of the PMBOK® Guide–Fourth Edition.

Errata sheets are commonplace in book publishing. Such documents list content revisions, and are typically a page or two in length. As the name implies, errata sheets are intended to correct errors and alleviate potential confusion. While errata sheets are not generated to correct simple typographical errors, the revisions may address errors of commission as well as those of omission. In each case, the object is to promote accuracy, clarity, consistency, and thoroughness.

The issuance of an errata sheet does not lessen the value of the original publication. Since the vast majority of a book’s content is typically unaffected by errata, an errata sheet should be viewed as a supplement to a viable publication.

In order to determine the print run of your book, refer to the bottom of the copyright page (which precedes the Notice page and Table of Contents).  You will see a descending numerical string of numbers beginning with 10.  The first printing of the PMBOK® Guide will show the numerals 10 through 1.  With each subsequent print run, the lowest numeral is removed from the string.  Therefore, if your copy of the PMBOK® Guide has all 10 numerals, you have the first printing and you will need the errata sheet.
