| Who Should Participate: |
Any individual who has made a contribution that expands or advances the project management profession, or that has developed a new initiative for PMI (e.g., global and education forums) is eligible. Nominees do not have to be PMI members. PMI staff members or contractors and/or consultants under contract to PMI, directly or indirectly, will not be eligible for consideration. |

The PMI® Distinguished Contribution Award recognizes significant achievement for sustained performance by an individual who contributes to the advancement of the project management profession or PMI.

Criteria
Nominations will be reviewed and evaluated based on the following criteria:
- • Contribution is significant in nature and offered a positive impact to the profession
- • Documentation submitted demonstrates the contribution was made for a sustained period of time involving significant efforts by the nominee
- • Contribution demonstrates the advancement of PMI and/or the project management profession
- • Documentation provides evidence the contribution is broadly applied within the project management profession or PMI
- • Contribution advances the image and brand of the project management profession or PMI
Nominations
A person must be nominated by at least one and no more than six individuals, one of whom must be a PMI member in good standing and function as the lead nominator. The lead nominator is responsible for assembling all supporting documentation and submitting five copies of the complete nomination package.
Each nominator must provide a statement of no more than two pages that includes:
- • Length and capacity (e.g., component member, business associate) of association with the nominee
- • Frequency of communication with the nominee
- • Description/documentation of contribution or service for which the individual is being nominated
- • Statement of recommendation for the award
All nomination letters must be original documents signed by the writer. Electronic letters are not acceptable. Any pages submitted beyond the prescribed limit will not be evaluated.
In the event more than one individual is nominated for the same contribution, separate nomination packets must be submitted.
The Professional Awards Member Advisory Group may award lead nominators up to two Professional Development Units (PDUs) for submitting nominations for a professional award.
PMI will use PMI.org to call for nominations from the membership at large and will also solicit nominations from the PMI elected membership.
Selection Process
The PMI Publics Relations Manager will verify the nomination’s eligibility and distribute the nomination package to the designated panel of reviewers for award evaluation. All qualified nominees may be selected for the award. PMI reserves the right not to select a recipient for a particular year if the review performed indicates that nominations do not meet the stated criteria.
