To be considered, the individual’s act(s) must have:

  • • Used specific project management processes, tools or techniques
  • • Been significant in nature and been perceived as having a positive impact on the profession
  • • Demonstrated and communicated an understanding of PMI published standards and practices
  • • Demonstrated leadership while advancing project management concepts, techniques, practices or theories
  • • Demonstrated initiative to advance project management concepts, techniques, practices or theories

The lead nominator must submit the complete nomination package in a single packet, which should include:

  • • A one-paragraph summary of the individual’s accomplishments (which may be used for publicity purposes)
  • • A letter from each nominator of no more than two pages that includes the length and type of association with the nominee, frequency of communication during the recommended period, and description and documentation of acts for which the individual is being nominated. These letters must also contain statements of personal knowledge of the act(s) and how the act(s) contributed to the advancement of project management
  • • Five copies of all nomination materials

All supporting nominations for the award must be submitted in English and as an original document. Electronic letters are not acceptable.

Lead nominators may be awarded up to two Professional Development Units (PDUs) for submitting nominations for a professional award.

Selection Process

This award is designed to immediately recognize individual accomplishments and contributions to project management. Each nomination will be reviewed and the information validated by the PMI Public Relations Manager, in conjunction with the PMI Professional Awards Program Member Advisory Group (MAG), which serves as the review panel in determining award recipient(s).

PMI reserves the right not to select a recipient of the award if the review performed indicates that nominations do not meet the stated criteria. Nominees may be re-nominated once, if not selected, with additional supporting evidence for the same act(s).

PMI will use PMI.org to call for nominations from the membership and will solicit nominations from the PMI elected membership.
