The PMI® Fellow Award is PMI’s highest and most prestigious honor, recognizing a member who has made sustained and significant contributions to PMI and the project management profession for more than a decade.

Criteria
To be considered, the individual must have made:
- • Significant progressive contributions on behalf of PMI that support the recognition of the Institute as the world’s leader in project management
- • Significant achievements in the profession that expand and advance project management knowledge, use and applications
- • Significant contributions to the activities of PMI
- • Contributions that have global value and benefit the Institute as a whole, its members and the profession
- • Three or more documented significant contributions
Nominations
Five copies of all nomination materials must be submitted in a single package by postal mail to the attention of the Public Relations Specialist, Public Relations, PMI Global Operations Center. Incomplete nomination packages will not be considered.
A special Application Form must be used in completing any nomination for the PMI Fellow Award.
Along with the Application Form, each nominator must provide a statement of no more than two pages that includes:
- • Length and capacity (e.g., community member, business associate) of association with the person nominated
- • Frequency of communication during the recommended period
- • Description/documentation of contribution or service for which the individual is being nominated
- • Statement of recommendation for the award that identifies their contributions and achievements and their impact on PMI and the profession
Nominations longer than two pages will not be evaluated. Electronic letters are not acceptable. Submittals must be in English.
The Professional Awards Member Advisory Group (MAG) may award lead nominators up to two Professional Development Units (PDUs) for submitting a nomination for a professional award.
PMI will use PMI.org to call for nominations from the membership and will solicit nominations from the PMI elected membership.
Selection
The PMI Public Relations Manager, in conjunction with the PMI Professional Awards Program MAG, will verify the nomination’s eligibility and criteria, and distribute the nomination package to the designated panel of reviewers for award evaluation.
No more than 10 recipients may be selected for the award each year. PMI reserves the right not to select a recipient of the award if the review performed indicates that nominations do not meet the stated criteria.
