Newtown Square, Pennsylvania, USA – The Global Accreditation Center (GAC) for Project Management has accredited the graduate programs in project management at University, Metropolitan College, in Massachusetts, USA, and the University of Management and Technology in Arlington, Virginia, USA.
The two accreditations were presented at a ceremony on 17 July in Montreal, Canada, during the biannual PMI Research Conference. GAC Chair John H. Cable, PMP, who also directs the project management program at the University of Maryland, said, “University programs are incubators of future project management theory, practice and practitioners.”
The PMI GAC Accreditation assures the quality of project management degree programs at the graduate and undergraduate level. Accreditation is achieved through a rigorous process that can take up to 18 months. A school considering GAC accreditation submits a letter of intent, followed by an in-depth self-study of its project management degree program(s). If the GAC Board accepts the self-study, an on-site team visits the applicant school to verify the self study. The on-site team’s report and recommendations are considered by the GAC Board and, if approved, the school receives GAC accreditation.
At Boston University, the Master of Science in Project Management, Master of Science in Administrative Studies and Master of Science in Computer Information Systems received GAC accreditation.
At the University of Management and Technology, the Doctor of Philosophy in Management, Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Information Technology and Master of Science in Management received GAC accreditation.
