Mr . Cable said, “University programs are incubators of future project management theory, practice and practitioners.” He said that countries around the world have schools in the accreditation pipeline, and he announced the inception of a GAC associate member program to widen the network of colleges and universities interested in project management. He urged the large audience of academics and practitioners that attended the ceremony to encourage interest in accreditation. During the opening address at the conference, PMI CEO Gregory Balestrero said that one of PMI’s goals during each of the next three years is to accredit 10 to 12 additional project management academic programs and to drive more students into the project management pipeline. At Boston University, the Master of Science in Project Management; Master of Science in Administrative Studies and Master of Science in Computer Information Systems were accredited. At the University of Management and Technology, the programs accredited were Doctor of Philosophy in Management; Master of Business Administration; Master of Science in Computer Science; Master of Science in Information Technology and Master of Science in Management. Associate Professors Vijay Kanabar, PhD, PMP, and Roger Warburton, PhD, from Boston University, and Academic Dean J. Davidson Frame, PhD, PMI Fellow, PMP, from University of Management and Technology, accepted plaques in honor of the occasion.
