Asia Pacific Research Conference on Project Management Call for
Papers |
|
Academic researchers and educators are invited to
submit paper proposals for the
Asia Pacific Research Conference on Project Management (APPMR
2010) , to be held in Melbourne, Australia, 25-26 February
2010. The conference theme is "The Project as a Social System."
In recent years research in project management has
accelerated. It has touched a myriad of disciplinary fields and
projects ranging from construction to organizational change to new
product development as well as non-traditional areas such as
medicine and law.
This suggests that project management as a field of
study could make significant contributions to scholarly knowledge
beyond project management. This shift in research focus indicates a
notable divergence from a traditional concern with the technical
processes of projects. Many researchers and authors identify
projects as primarily social constructs where sense-making and
adaptive behaviours prevail to accommodate local contexts, dynamics
and personal attributes. This suggests that projects can be
considered as social systems, which encompass a broad range of
phenomena including knowledge practices, learning, power and
politics, leadership, organisational behaviour, quality of
work-life, conflict resolution, and competency development.
The conference theme frames project management as a
method of organizing work and the issues associated with project
work in an organizational context. Research contributions that
explore such phenomena are encouraged.
