Keynote Speaker to Address “The Diversity Asset”
PMI Global Congress 2007—Latin America in Cancun, Mexico
12–14 November

In the age of globalization, it's crucial to understand diverse cultures, customs and etiquette to avoid misunderstandings that could be bad for business. That’s why author, commentator and syndicated columnist Ruben Navarrette, Jr., will address The Diversity Asset in his keynote speech at the congress in Cancun this year.

In his speech, Mr. Navarrette will suggest that diversity—whether based on race, gender, religion, national origin, or even ideology—is an asset to be harnessed rather than an obstacle to be overcome.

Mr. Navarrette has received the National Headliner award, and Hispanic Business Magazine has named him among “the 100 Most Influential Hispanics in the Country (U.S.).” PODER Magazine cites Navarrette as one of 100 Hispanic “poderosos” (powerful ones).

Mr. Navarrette’s nationally syndicated column with the Washington Post Writers Group appears twice weekly in over 200 newspapers. His freelance writing has appeared in nearly 100 periodicals including Texas Monthly, Hispanic Magazine, and USA TODAY.

This year’s attendees will be provided electronic name badges for admission to congress events. When you check in to the congress at the PMI registration desk, you will be given your congress "smart badge."

The badge is about the same size as a credit card with an electronic chip that is coded with your registration information. Your name, organization and other information will also be printed on the smart card, and displayed in your neck wallet to be easily read by congress participants.

Your congress smart badge is your ticket to all PMI events – presentations, networking sessions, receptions and other events that require registration. A PMI host will “tap” your smart badge with a hand-held device to acknowledge your attendance at the event.

Another technology-based addition to the congress this year is the CyberCenter. Located in the exhibit area, the CyberCenter features multiple computer workstations, enabling attendees to check email and access the Internet.

In addition to these new features, the congress in Cancun provides a wealth of educational sessions, networking events and opportunities to earn Professional Development Units.

Check the congress website for more information.
