PMI Project of the Year Finalists Announced

PMI has announced the three finalists for its 2009 Project of the Year award.

The Project of the Year is PMI’s most prestigious award. It recognizes the year’s most outstanding project and project team for superior performance and exemplary project management.

The 2009 Project of the Year finalists are:

  • British Airports Authority

British Airports Authority, who owns seven airports in the United Kingdom, successfully refurbished London Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 1 arrivals and departures concourse. The project required balancing the travel schedules of millions of passengers, as well as the needs of a diverse group of stakeholders that included the aviation industry, government and non-government organizations.
  • Colorado State Patrol

The Colorado State Patrol (CSP) provided law enforcement for the 2008 Democratic National Convention. CSP’s strategic planning and execution, adopted from the PMBOK® Guide, ensured that the high-profile event was not disrupted.
  • Fluor

Fluor Corporation engineered, procured, constructed and commissioned the TS Power Plant near Dunphy, Nevada. The facility has already exceeded performance expectations, resulting in fuel savings and increased profit.

The Project of the Year award will be announced at the annual Awards Ceremony at the PMI Global Congress 2009—North America in Orlando, Florida, USA.
