The volume of e-mail I send, receive and need to manage leaves me little time to actually run projects. Plus, there are constant misunderstandings resulting from unclear e-mails that I must resolve. What are some ideas for more effective e-mail management?

  1. Ask your IT staff for a class in operating your
e-mail application in a more efficient way.
  2. Save precious project time by answering
e-mails once a day, preferably in the evening at home.
  3. Block spam, unwanted ads, jokes and e-mails from problem clients on your desktop.
  4. Spend more time considering subject headings, clarity and storing your electronic correspondence.
  5. Ask to receive all important documents in a hard copy format, in case you don’t have time to open all your e-mails.
