Learn from Local and Global Experts at Two Events in EMEA

Investing in your professional development keeps you sharp and ready for a changing business world. Two upcoming events taking place in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region will allow you to do just that.

PMI’s global congresses are premier project management events that enable you to update your skills, network and earn professional development units toward maintaining your PMI credentials. This year, the PMI® Global Congress 2011—EMEA, on 9–11 May in Dublin, Ireland, will be an opportunity to gain knowledge and make contacts that can bring you successful results.

After you learn how to effectively use social media in your next project from Keynote Speaker Kevin Eyres, managing director of LinkedIn Europe, you can gain more knowledge by participating in educational sessions and seminars led by local and global industry experts.

Congress Sessions
In one session, two professors from the Kemmy Business School of the University of Limerick will present a case study on a fictitious e-governance initiative. The workshop aims to teach tools for mapping, defining and tracking business benefits and to stimulate discussions on different competency profiles for project managers.

A lecturer from the University College Dublin, Smurfit School of Business will present “Selling Yourself and Your Project to Senior Management.” The goal of this session is to demonstrate sales concepts and personal influencing strategies in the context of project management and apply them to the case study presented.

Sessions nominated by PMI chapters in Germany, France, Portugal, Italy and Romania address topics including risk governance, risk communication, risk in the public sector and IT project management among others.

The PMI Learning, Education & Development Community of Practice will present on A Look at Education and Development of EMEA Project Managers and the PMI Scheduling Community of Practice presents Design and Development of a Schedule Management Plan.

Representatives from the winner of the 2010 PMI Project of the Year Award will present on the National Ignition Facility Project.

Interested in a more in-depth look at a single project management topic? Consider PMI’s SeminarsWorld, taking place in Dublin after the congress on 12–13 May. Select a two-day seminar on a topic such as finance and budgeting, establishing project management offices or risk management.

One of the seminars—The Complete Project Manager—shares the stories and passions that motivate action. Seminar leader Alfonso Bucero, MSc, PMP, from Madrid, shows you how to apply these practices up, across and down the organization, especially in politically charged situations. The aim is learning how you can use your knowledge and skills to make a difference in project outcomes.

Both congress and SeminarsWorld offer opportunities to earn professional development units (PDUs) toward maintaining your PMI credential(s). Congress and SeminarsWorld require separate registrations. Choose which event best suits your style of learning or register for both events for a special bundled rate.

Registration, pricing and lodging information is available online. Register by 25 April to take advantage of special early registration rates. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.
