Perceptions and Factors on Successful Delivery of Information Technology Projects by Certified Project Managers
Jon Brundage, Capella University,
jbrundage@capellauniversity.edu
The purpose of my research is to ascertain the relationship of requiring the use of certified Project Managers (PMs) to lead Information Technology (IT) projects in yielding successful outcomes to those IT projects. There is almost a ubiquitous requirement and mandate in the Federal Government and in many major corporations to use certified Project Managers to lead IT projects. There is a significant failure rate among IT projects that has been documented in the literature and one of the reactions has been to mandate the training and use of certified PMs. My research study will examine this relationship to ascertain the impact of using certified PMs is having on outcomes for IT projects.

Information Technology Project Quality Management Study
Jack T. Marchewka & Andrew Setterstrom, Northern Illinois University,
jmarchewka@niu.edu
W. Edwards Deming was one of the strongest proponents of quality management, and in his book, Out of the Crisis, Deming outlined a set of 14 points that provide a foundation for quality management. Only a few studies have attempted to test Deming’s quality management model through the collection of data, and no studies to date have tested this model in a project setting. If you have managed an IT project in the last five years, your participation in this study is greatly appreciated to better understand how Deming’s work can be applied to project management.
