PMI Research and Education Conference: 2016 and Future Activities
PMI Enhancing Academic Research Offerings
Over the past two decades, the field of academic research has evolved and grown in expected and unexpected ways – and so have the venues where project management academics gather to discuss their work.
Today, there are more academic conferences than ever where project management scholars can and want to present their new research.
PMI is committed to supporting forums that deliver relevant, high-quality and valuable content by and for our academic colleagues, and allow for informed discussion on a variety of topics. At the same time, we are mindful of the increasing pressures of university budget fluctuations and the multiple time commitments of the faculty.
With this in mind, we have reevaluated the purpose of the PMI Research and Education Conference. After careful consideration of the current academic field, including the landscape of available academic conferences, and discussion with both internal and external stakeholders, we have decided to restructure PMI’s biennial research events. The PMI Research and Education Conference in its current form will be discontinued.
This decision is a positive step that will allow us to commit more of our time and resources on supporting and interacting with you at other prestigious academic events, such as the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management. It will also provide the opportunity to create or support other teaching and research-focused events and activities. We’re excited about the unique opportunities and partnerships this will present for our academic stakeholders, practitioners and for PMI.
More information on these events and other activities will be shared with you as it becomes available.
