Collaborate and Connect with PMI’s New Communities of Practice
Member benefits improve with this new way to connect across the globe.
Use these knowledge-driven sites to explore specific areas of project management with PMI members from all over the world.
Get great ideas, share your expertise, and discuss current trends and challenges with your peers through wikis, discussion boards, blogs and shared documents. You can also create opinion polls, find PDU opportunities and check the community calendars for events like webinars and more.
Visit the PMI Agile Community of Practice, which launched in July, and contribute to wikis on topics like agile for large projects or non-IT projects; access shared documents on tools and techniques; share and learn from PMP® exam experiences; and join discussions that ask “How long is your SPRINT?”
The communities of practice now available include:
- Agile
- Consulting
- International Development
- Organizational Project Management
- Project Human Resource Management
- Project Management Global Sustainability
- Retail
- Utility
The new communities of practice launched in October through the Virtual Communities Project (VCP). Additional communities will be added soon.
The VCP is an initiative created by PMI volunteers and supported by the PMI Board of Directors to transition PMI’s specific interest groups (SIGs) and colleges into communities of practice by the end of 2010. PMI’s geographically based chapters will still offer a great opportunity for you to connect and participate locally.

Recognize Excellence within Your Profession
The call for 2010 PMI Professional Awards nominations is now open.
Each year PMI honors those who do an outstanding job advancing the profession and discipline of project management.
The PMI Professional Awards honor those who manage successful, innovative projects, conduct research, publish excellent books, create outstanding training products and programs, or help their communities prosper through the use of project management.
All of these awards require someone like you nominating the person, project, organization, product or book. Tell us who deserves to be in the running for a 2010 PMI Professional Award.
Learn more about PMI’s 2009 Professional Awards winners, most of which were rewarded at the North America global congress in October.
