Assess Your Knowledge at Three Career Levels

Have you wondered if you have the knowledge and skill to advance to program or portfolio management responsibilities? How about your project team members—what specific training do they need to fill in gaps or improve their performance?

PMI’s new online Knowledge Assessments allow you to determine your understanding of PMI’s standards in order to pinpoint training needs for you and your project team members. The following assessments are available at three career levels:

  • The Program Management Knowledge Assessment is based on The Standard for Program Management—Second Edition.
  • The Portfolio Management Knowledge Assessment is based on The Standard for Portfolio Management—Second Edition.
  • The Project Management Knowledge Assessment is based on A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide)—Fourth Edition for your project team members.

Each online assessment consists of 100 multiple-choice questions grouped by categories relevant to each standard and only costs US$35 per person.

Individuals

At the conclusion of each assessment, you receive an overall score. You can access the score report through the candidate delivery tab on the test site. The final report includes an overall score, and a score for each performance section. Thus, you know where your strengths and weaknesses are and which professional development tools you need to access for advancement.

Project Teams

Team leaders can aggregate individual practitioners’ scores and create a comprehensive report in order to evaluate your team’s overall project management knowledge and training needs.

Organizations

Organizations also can benefit from using PMI’s knowledge assessments. By evaluating an individual’s knowledge and establishing a baseline, they can deliver a project management career path and identify organization-wide training needs.

Prepare for a Credential

Both individuals and organizations can use the knowledge assessments to help them and their staff prepare for one of PMI’s credential exams. Please note, though, that success on individual Knowledge Assessments should not be considered an indicator of likely success on PMI’s credential examinations.
