| Overview of Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR)
Your Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential has a three-year cycle during which you are expected to meet the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) set forth by PMI.
In order to maintain an active credential status, you need to accrue and report a minimum of 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) during each three-year credential/CCR cycle. You can earn PDUs in any of the following categories:
| Category 1: |
Formal academic education |
| Category 2: |
Professional activities and self-directed learning |
| Category 3: |
PMI Registered Education Providers (REPs) /
PMI Components |
| Category 4: |
Other education providers |
| Category 5: |
Volunteer service to professional or community organizations. |
You should report your PDUs on PMI’s online Certification System as you earn them. The Certification System contains your credential cycle dates and an Activity Reporting Form. Please note that it can take up to three weeks for PDUs to post to your transcript.
In addition to earning and reporting PDUs, you also need to complete an Application for Certification Renewal, remit payment of the renewal fee, and reaffirm PMI’s Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. For more information about the CCR program or the PDU categories, access the CCR Handbook on PMI’s website.
The cost of renewing your PMP credential is $60 (US) for PMI members and $150 (US) for non-members.
Please don’t wait until the last minute to earn and record your PDUs. You can enroll in online courses, attend seminars and PMI chapter events, volunteer and interact with your project management colleagues at conferences throughout the year.
