The New PMI.org Gives Fast and Easy Access to Information for Credential Holders

PMI has launched the new PMI.org—a culmination of extensive assessments of member needs and a commitment to serving the global project management community.

Now, Project Management Professional (PMP®) credential holders can easily view their current Professional Development Units (PDUs), read about upcoming learning opportunities, find out about other PMI credentials and renew their PMI membership on the left-hand column of every page.

Content on the new site is also better tailored to the specific user:

  • A single sign-on collects and processes data from across many PMI-related sites at once, enabling quicker access to your personal membership and certification information, as well as premium content right on each page, instead of logging in to separate sections.
  • Under the Career Development section, credential holders can learn more about PMI’s new Program Management Professional (PgMPSM) credential and the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) program. Check the online Credential Registry and read about certification and the job market.
  • Credential holders who are PMI members gain access to an extensive assortment of project management resources, including the library of PMI Global Standards, all PMI award-winning periodicals, current and past published research, and the electronic archive of PMI congress presentations and periodical literature.
  • Returning shoppers in the new Marketplace, an integrated e-commerce destination, can browse their order history and purchase new items more quickly.

Visit the new PMI.org now and learn more about the many new sections and features of the site.

Q: I just received my PMP credential. How soon can I report Professional Development Units (PDUs)?

Although PMI advises credential holders to report PDUs as soon as they earn them, if you have just been bestowed the credential, it may take two to three weeks for PMI’s certification database to transfer them into the Continuing Certification Requirements (CCR) database.

PMP credential holders can submit their PDU claims in a several ways:

PMI/CCR Records
College of Continuing Education
1700 Asp Avenue
Norman, OK 73072-6400 USA

Q: I entered my PDUs online using the Activity Reporting form. When can I expect to see those PDUs reflected on my transcript?

Please note that it takes approximately three weeks for PDUs to post to your transcript. If you have difficulty accessing your certification record, contact our Customer Care Team at customercare@pmi.org.

Q: What are the categories for earning and reporting PDUs?

The CCR program organizes PDUs into the following five categories:

Category 1: Formal Academic Education
Courses must be offered for degree credit and be related to project management.

Category 2: Professional Activities and Self-directed Learning
Activities include, but are not limited to: writing or co-writing a published article, speaking or teaching at a formal conference or meeting, or serving on a discussion panel lecture.

Category 3: PMI Registered Education Providers/PMI Components
Courses must be offered by organizations registered with PMI and designated as PMI Registered Education Providers (R.E.P.).

Category 4: Other Provider
Courses must be relevant to project management education and can be offered by organizations not registered with PMI.

Category 5: Volunteer Service to Professional or Community Organizations
Includes professional service to a project management organization or non-compensated project management services to non-employer or non-client customer groups.

For complete details on all five categories and to learn how to calculate your PDUs for each category, visit the CCR Program Handbook of PMI.org.
