Maintain Your Credential
PMP Expiration Dates Change

In the last couple of months, you have been alerted to a change in your PMP credential expiration date. Where the credential expiration date used to occur on 31 December of the third year after it was earned, the date now corresponds with the anniversary of when you earned the credential.

During this month, you have received an e-mail indicating your new expiration date and may have noticed that months were added to your renewal cycle. PMI has not shortened anyone's credential cycle.

PMI made this change to simplify the PMP certification cycle. It also allows the Institute to better serve your needs and to shorten the renewal processing time.

The actual continuing certification requirements and credential renewal process remain the same. To maintain your PMP credential before your expiration date, you are still required to:

In October, you will receive a new PMP certificate with your new expiration date in the mail. Please send any questions to Customer Care.

Volunteer Opportunity Awards up to 10 PDUs

Join the PMI Management team in its strategic focus on the academic market by becoming a School Census Database Reviewer. Reviewers will collect data on project management courses taught at local universities, colleges and technical institutions.

The responsibilities will only require about 1-2 hours per week for up to 10 weeks. Sign up and earn up to 10 PDUs, and enjoy professional growth and networking opportunities. E-mail the volunteer administrator with questions or for more information.

Share your Knowledge in the Virtual Library—Earn PDUs

PMI’s Virtual Library seeks to post your articles for professional development units (PDUs).

The Virtual Library aims to be the premier online source for project management knowledge and information to help professionals and organizations advance the practice of project management.

A team of volunteers along with PMI staff review the articles for clarity and relevance before posting them. Your paper could be a part of this virtual collection.

Authors whose articles are posted on the Virtual Library may claim 15 PDUs under Category 2B. For accepted articles with more than one author, each co-author may claim 10 PDUs. In order to be eligible for PDUs, articles must be at least the length of a magazine feature article (1,500 words or more).

The project community is looking forward to reading your submissions. Please visit the Virtual Library to download the author’s guidelines and submission forms. While you are there, check out other PMI knowledge-sharing resources. For more information, please e-mail the Virtual Library.
