Partnership with Non-Profit Community Organization to Produce Strategic Plan

The PMI Lakeshore Chapter (Ontario, Canada) partnered with Robert Land Community Association (RLCA) to develop a strategic plan with input from their stakeholders. This plan addressed the needs of the community and will ensure their long term, sustained success.

The following are key milestones of this project (which totaled 1,000 PMI volunteer hours over 6 months):

  • Implemented a “Voice of Community” event to obtain community input for the strategic plan.  An army of 80 volunteers knocked on over 600 doors to obtain community feedback and host a neighbourhood Open House/Family Day. This historic event was covered by radio stations, local television news and the local newspaper
  • Contacted 100 organizational stakeholders, funders, programming partners, leasers and local Government representatives to provide input to the strategic plan.
  • Conducted strategic planning workshop with facilitation provided by Mohawk College's team at the state-of-the-art Mohawk Management Decision Centre
  • Celebration of the success of this inaugural outreach project at the PMI Lakeshore 10th Anniversary Dinner Celebration on Dec. 7, 2009 with attendance by a representative from the City of Hamilton’s Mayor’s office, Drina Omazic, City Chief of Staff.
