The Student Performance of the Year Award (FSPA)

As in 2004, the PMI Frankfurt Chapter e.V. (PMIFC) grants an award in 2005 for extraordinary student efforts in the area of project management according to global Project Management Institute (PMI®) standards (www.pmi.org).

The Student Performance Award (SPA) is PMIFC's contribution to promoting project management according to global standards at universities. This award underlines the benefits of PMI standards for academic research and supports PMIFC's purpose as stated in its incorporation documents.

The Student Performance Award includes a monetary award of €2.000,--. In addition, an award certificate is provided to the winner(s). The award may be split if more than one paper qualifies.

Students of all areas may apply for this award. Papers written by individual students and student groups are eligible for submission if they deal with project management.

Submitted papers must comply with the following conditions:

  • Submitted at a university (no dissertation), e.g. as a part of a course or lecture;

  • Finalized in 2004 or 2005;

  • References to PMI Standards (e.g. A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), Organizational Project Management Maturity Model (OPM3®));

  • Maximum age of applicants is 30 years;

  • Written in German or English language; and

  • The paper has to be written according to academic standards.

For the submission, the following documents have to be included: (hardcopy and electronic version each, Microsoft® Windows-compatible format)

  • Paper version of the paper with a minimum of 25 pages and a maximum of 35 pages excluding appendices;

  • Abstract (two (2) pages) in English (for distribution in PMIFC's newsletter);

  • Curriculum Vitae of participants; and

  • Written agreement of involved company if applicable.

A jury of PMIFC members, academic teachers, and industry representatives evaluate submitted papers and nominate the winner. The decision is final and does not include an explanation.

Applicants are not required to be members of PMI or the PMIFC.

Winners are requested to present awarded papers to an audience of professionals in a PMIFC meeting (the PMIFC will reimburse the travel costs occurring within Germany). In addition, winners are given the chance to present their papers (abstract version) in the October 2005 edition of the PMIFC newsletter. Finally, the PMIFC will submit the awarded papers for participation in the global PMI award, coordinated by the PMI Educational Foundation.

In order to participate, students are required to send a written notification prior to submission to the PMIFC by 1 July 2005. Deadline for submission is 1 August 2005. If you have further questions or want to take part, please contact the PMIFC at pmief@pmi.org.
