About Julie Wilson and Lois Zells
Julie M. Wilson, ACS, PMP
Julie M.
Wilson, ACS, PMP, has a diverse background in leading projects and
programs within the computer, financial services,
telecommunications, insurance, government and high-tech industries.
She is currently an executive with IBM Global Services, and her
project management practice oversees large, complex projects and
programs worldwide.
Ms.
Wilson has led projects and programs involving new product
development, mergers and acquisitions, strategic and tactical
planning and management, and information systems. Former
affiliations include Vanstar Corporation, AT&T Global Information
Systems, General Telephone, Lincoln National Corporation, Pacific
Mutual Life Insurance, and the County of Fresno, California, USA.
Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Project
Management Institute (PMI®), and on the Board’s Executive
Committee. In the recent past, Ms. Wilson has served as Chair of
PMI’s Leadership Conference Committee (1998), Strategic Planning
Committee (1995-1998), Policy Governance Committee (1998), and
actively participated in PMI Chapter and Specific Interest Group
local activities and programs. A member of the founding Specific
Interest Group (SIG) Council, she is credited with the co-founding
of PMI’s SIGs. Ms. Wilson has also served on Executive Advisory
Boards for the University of California at Irvine and Coastline
Community College (project management programs), and on various
financial services boards as well.
Ms.
Wilson earned her Project Management Professional (PMP®)
Certification from PMI and her ACS (Associate Customer Service)
Certification from the Life Office Management Association (LOMA) in
1992. She holds a BS in Information Management from the University
of Phoenix (Arizona, USA).
A
frequent worldwide speaker, panelist, and lecturer on the topics of
project management, finance, product development, and strategic
planning, Ms. Wilson is listed in Who's Who in American Business,
Who's Who of Women Executives, and Outstanding People of
the 20th Century.
Lois Zells
Lois
Zells is an international author, lecturer, and business consultant,
specializing in software engineering consulting. She is the
co-founder and past co-chair of PMI’s IS SIG, a past co-chair of the
PMI General SIG Council and a PMI Woman of the Year (1993).
Currently, Lois is on the review committee for the revision of ISO
9000-3, and is on the Board of Governors for the Brainstorm Group's
Year 2000 conference. Because of her widely-acknowledged expertise,
it is not unusual for her to be called upon to serve as an expert
witness in software project failure litigations.
Ms.
Zells is the author of, and consultant in, a number of popular
management workshops on strategic planning, project management,
total quality management, strategic systems planning, process
maturity assessments, methodologies and techniques, business process
re-engineering, and other related topics. She also wrote the best
seller, Managing Software Projects, and has published many
articles in the major periodicals of the industry. She is the
developer of the Total Quality Management seminar series "Software
Excellence Through Total Quality Management," and her most popular
seminar series is the totally-integrated, three-tier learning
program on software engineering project management called
"Successful Projects: The Common Sense Approach." Lois wrote the
introductory chapter for Total Quality Management for Software,
published by Van Nostrand Reinhold, as well as the information
systems chapter, "Project Management for Software Engineering," in
The AMA Handbook of Project Management. She is now working
on her second book: The Practical Guide to Successful Projects.
Ms.
Zells is a frequent consultant to several software tools vendors and
has worked with many major companies to improve their software
engineering processes and project environments and to enable them to
consistently and successfully complete high-quality projects.
She
graduated summa cum laude in data processing management from the
University of Baltimore (Maryland, USA), and studied for her
master’s degree in computer sciences at Johns Hopkins University.
