A member of PMI since 1972, Mr. Morton served on the PMI Board of Directors for eight years in various roles: technical chair, inter-society liaison chair, acting secretary, secretary, president and chair. He developed the first one, five and 10 year plans for the organization and is a founding member and was former secretary of the PMI Houston Chapter. Throughout his career, he presented project management seminars to PMI and IFMA chapters, business associations and the National Quality Control Conference. These seminars were instrumental in implementing project management programs at Western Carolina University and the University of Montreal. He also presented at PMI’s annual meetings for many years. PMI Person of the Year in 1981, Mr. Morton was instrumental in initiating the first standards program and determining Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification requirements. He authored “Project Manager Catalyst to Constant Change”, which was published internationally by the United Nations as one of the first project management reference handbooks. He was a contributing author to various PMI published books and was the editor for the first project management software survey.
