A PMI member since 1986, Mr. Pells founded and led the PMI Eastern Idaho Chapter in 1987. He was president of the PMI Dallas/Fort Worth Chapter from 1990 through 1992 and a founding member of the PMI Austin, Fort Worth and Alamo (San Antonio) Chapters. In 1994, he founded and chaired PMI's first specific interest group (SIG), the Project Earth SIG. Hee served on the PMI Board of Directors, as vice president of public ,relations, from 1995 through 1997, and again in 2002. From 1993-1996, he was PMI's liaison to the Russian and Ukrainian project management associations. He initiated the first Global Project Management Forum in 1995 and served as its chair through 1999. He initiated and chaired the American Project Management Forums during 1996 through 1998 and received the PMI Linn Stuckenbruck Person of the Year Award in 1998. He was awarded the PMI Fellow Award in 1999. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the Association for Project Management (APM) in the UK; Project Management Associates (PMA - India); and Russian Project Management Association. Mr. Pells is currently managing editor of the PM World Journal and executive director of the PM World Library. He is an internationally recognized leader in the field of professional project management with more than 35 years of experience on a variety of programs and projects, including energy, engineering, construction, defense, high technology, nuclear security and transportation, and project sizes ranging from several thousand to ten billion dollars. From June 2006 until March 2012, he was the managing editor of the PM World Today eJournal. He occasionally provides high-level advisory support for major government programs and global organizations. Mr. Pells has published widely and spoken at conferences and events worldwide.
