Debra L. Miersma

Debra Miersma has been an active member of PMI since joining in 1995, establishing four student clubs within the PMI Southwest Ohio (USA) chapter, then serving as chapter president (1998-1999). The chapter received the 1998 PMI Chapter Sustained Superior Performance Award. More recently, Ms. Miersma has helped lead the PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF) as 2009 chair and board director (2006-2012). Previously, she served as president (and other leadership roles) of PMI’s global chapter leadership (1999-2001). She also planned eight Leadership Institute conferences as a part of a small team (1997-2001), initiated “Ask the Chair and CEO” Q&A sessions, and initiated the first Leadership Showcases (1998-2001). Ms. Miersma served on the PMIEF Governing Documents Review Task Team. In 2015 she is serving on the PMI Professional Awards Member Advisory Group. Ms. Miersma served on the PMI Board of Directors (2002-2004) as secretary/treasurer and chair or member of several committees. She has contributed to several other special projects, such as the current PMI Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct (2004-2007), and the PMI Lexicon of Project Management Terms (2009-2011). Ms. Miersma is a paper engineer and 2002 graduate of PMI’s inaugural Leadership Institute Master’s Class. Her non-PMI volunteer activities include serving on the Berkshire (Massachusetts, USA) Immigrant Center Advisory Board; serving as 2015 chair of the key annual fundraising event for Barrington Stage Company (Massachusetts, USA), and volunteering in various project-related capacities with her church.
