Dr. Webster was PMI's Editor-in-Chief from 1984 to 1992. In 1986, he created PM Network® and during his tenure, he increased the number of issues published per year and improved many aspects of the publication process. This improvements reduced cost per copy, which was important as PMI membership counts crossed 100,000. The improvements to PM Network allowed Project Management Journal to better focus on research findings. He introduced the Showcase Project, which examined an important facet of significant projects. He also initiated publication of books by PMI, published several editions of the PMI Software Survey, was involved in publishing two versions of A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), wrote questions for two sections of the PMI certification examination, and conducted numerous workshops. Dr. Webster authored a pair of books that presented the basics of modern project management. In 1987, he received the PMI Distinguished Contribution Award, and in 1988 was honored as PMI Person of the Year. He retired in 1994 and now resides in Denver, Colorado, USA.
