Rebecca Ann Winston

Active in PMI since 1993, Rebecca Winston helped pioneer PMI's former Specific Interest Groups (SIGs), including the Project Earth and Government SIGs, the latter of which she was a founding member. She also initiated the SIGs’ involvement with the PMI Board of Directors, and was founder and first co-chair of the former PMI Women in Project Management SIG. She served on the Ethics Appeals Committee for six years, serving as chair in 2005. She served on the PMI Board of Directors from 1998 to 2003 and was chair of the Board in 2002. Ms. Winston continues to serve PMI in various positions, including as a reviewer for various awards and standards. She is also serving as chair of the US Technical Advisory Group for Technical Committee 258 and U.S. Head of Delegation for ISO project, programme, and portfolio management standards. She has also served as a subject matter expert on their working and study groups. Ms. Winston serves on the Board of Governors for the PM World Journal and has contributed several articles to the journal. Ms. Winston currently serves as a consultant to organizations such as the Department of Energy and the Department of Homeland Security, as well as various private and non-profit firms on topics ranging from strategic and business planning to program and project management, to project reviews and assistance in risk management and vulnerability assessments. She also served for four years on the National Academies of Science—Air Force Studies Board and several of its study committees as well as an organizer of an energy workshop.
