Dubai Metro – Redline Extension (Route 2020)
The Dubai Metro project also known as the Route 2020, features seven metro stations consisting of one interchange station, three elevated stations, two underground stations and a signature Iconic Station at the Expo Site as well as the supply of 50 trainsets. The Route 2020 contributed to the RTA strategy by meeting the strategic vision of RTA (Roads & Transport Authority) to extend the eco-friendly public transportation mode to residents and tourists in the Emirate of Dubai.
The project scope allows for increased ridership on the Dubai Metro due to the Expo 2020 event as well as future long-term needs. According to Roads & Transport Authority studies, the number of riders using the project route is anticipated to reach 275,000 riders per day by 2030.
Connecting several residential and business communities to the existing metro lines/public transportation system, thereby greatly benefiting residents and the business communities along the route such as Gardens, Discovery Gardens, Al Furjan, Jumeirah Gold Estates, Dubai Investment Park, etc. This project managed all complexities related to meeting its overall benefits, stakeholders, and risk, and was successfully carried out on time and budget.
