Dubai Municipality Project Management Office
Dubai Municipality's remit covers 14 core competencies from building regulations and permits to parks and recreation, to environment, health, safety, and sewerage management services, where 60% of government funds for the city's infrastructure and construction projects are allocated to the mega projects managed by the municipality. To deliver and oversee this diverse portfolio of projects and programs, an Enterprise PMO was established in August 2018. and within two years the new PMO managed to increase its project, program & portfolio maturity to an advanced maturity.
The PMO embedded exceptional standards of Projects, programs, and portfolio management from PMI along with best practices in innovation and performance management through tailored and automated frameworks starting from demand management and portfolio prioritization, all the way to post closure and benefit measurement.
Today, the PMO has become an expert hub for an average of 180 projects delivered by the municipality per year with a community of 380 project practitioners. The PMO focused on building capabilities and skills across the organization for PM teams and leadership through formal and informal workshops and training. PfMP, PMP, ACP and CAPM training contributed to realizing higher maturity levels in a short period of time. The municipality is now looking at more specialized training and certificates in sectors like IT and construction, extending the PMO's use of AI and applying advanced technology in project management.
