GDID Jubilee - COVID-19 300 ICU Hospital Beds

The 300-bed permanent COVID-19 facility at the Jubilee Hospital site is one of the most rapidly constructed hospitals of its kind built to date in South Africa. The design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the hospital was completed in 5 months during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The facilities were designed and constructed as a modular system to allow for changes in the future when the pandemic subsides or changes. The ten (10) buildings were constructed on existing hospital property and between active and occupied buildings. The project leveraged excellent stakeholder management techniques and effective risk management strategies to ensure that construction took place at breakneck speed and in compliance with healthcare and pandemic-related protocols. This project utilized agile project management technologies and project management best practices to deliver sustained benefits in record time.
