Community Engagement

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) at PMI is driven by our people, volunteers, members, certification holders and staff. DE&I is part of PMI's DNA by nature.

 

Global Volunteers and Affinity Groups

Global Volunteers have been an instrumental driver in advancing DE&I at PMI. Starting with the 2019 Board of Directors who held our organization accountable to intentionally starting this work and seeing the emergence of the first ever DE&I Working Group in 2022. The work continues to drive change within our organization and community and continues to evolve to meet the needs of our community.

While the initial iteration of the program was intentionally focused on staff, Global Volunteers stepped up to ensure our external communities were also involved and benefitted from this work.

 

DE&I Focused Volunteer Teams

The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Insight Team The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I) Insight Team supports PMI’s commitment to driving and maintaining an inclusive culture that recognizes the value of the diverse individuals who represent it. The DE&I Insight team provides guidance and feedback to staff on best practices in the space of DE&I to support PMI’s DE&I strategy on a Global Level with local lens.

 

Women in Project Management Affinity Group

The Women in Project Management Working Group brings together women as project professionals to foster inclusive workplaces and teams that generate women leaders and maintain top talent as well as build pathways to bring women into the profession and encourage girls to aspire to join it and thrive. This volunteer group will provide feedback and insight to staff to engage and mobilize women in our community to position PMI as a driver in creating an equitable profession and organization for women project professionals.

Chapters

Many of our over 300 chapters across the Globe have been active in this space for decades. We are grateful for their steadfast leadership and partner with many of them to amplify their work and provide strategic insight and support. Additionally, Chapter Leaders receive annual DE&I training to learn more about what it means to get involved with this space and to support leaders with integrating DE&I into their Chapters and maintaining the work as we shift our culture to be more inclusive and where all feel and know they belong.
