Margareth Carneiro, MBA, MSc, PMP
Margareth Carneiro is the founder and owner of PMA - Professional Management and works at INEP, an agency of the Brazilian Ministry of Education. She is a proficient program and project professional with more than 25 years of experience. She holds a computer science degree, an MBA in project management, and a master’s degree in knowledge management. She is preparing her PhD thesis for the administration doctorate (Argentina). She is also a graduate of the PMI® Leadership Institute Master Class and has been a Project Management Professional (PMP)® credential holder since 1999. Ms. Carneiro has extensive experience in the IT sector and has worked as a consultant and trainer to government agencies and departments to align public policies with portfolio, program, and project practices in order to improve effectiveness. In her past 13 years of experience as a project and program manager at Unisys, she has worked on several projects with global partners, utilizing her ability to understand and deal with multiple cultures and diverse teams. Ms. Carneiro was the sponsor, founder and first president of the PMI Brasil, Distrito Federal Chapter. She served on the former PMI Government SIG for several years, acting as chair for three years. She participated on a PMI Code of Ethics committee for two years and on the PMI Standard MAG for four years. In addition, Ms. Carneiro took part in the PMI Community Transformation Project, served on the A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) Portuguese translation team, and worked on the Government Extension, Program and Portfolio standards’ teams. Ms. Carneiro received the PMI Distinguished Contribution Award and the Leadership of the Year Award. She was named one of the 25 most influential women in PM worldwide. She is co-author of three books (Cases in project management, PMO - Project, Program and Portfolio Office, and Communications in Projects) and author of the book Public Administration - The Role of Strategic Planning, Portfolio, Program and Project Management and PMO in the Modernization and Effectiveness of Public Sector, with contribution of cases from 26 practitioners from Brazil, Uruguay and Canada.
