Lynn Shannon is a dedicated professional leader with extensive management experience leading media and digital transformation programs for large Canadian companies, including Thomson Reuters, Torstar, Rogers Communication and Sun Life Financial. She trains project managers and business analysts, and facilitates the creation of project management offices (PMOs) while leading change initiatives to achieve corporate objectives. These initiatives have involved collaboration on strategic planning with boards of directors and senior management as well as working with multiple cross-functional and international teams of more than 100 individuals on multiyear, million-dollar programs, delivering results by significantly growing revenue, customer retention and shareholder value.  

Drawing upon her business experience, she is a popular instructor who has inspired thousands of learners with her passion for project management while developing and delivering leadership and project management courses at the University of Toronto.  

An active volunteer with the PMI for more than 20 years, Ms. Shannon has served in both local and global roles, including president of the PMI Toronto Chapter (2010–2012), region mentor for central/eastern Canada and northeastern United States (2015–2017) and as a member of the PMI Chapter Insight Team (2018–2020). She has virtually partnered with PMI volunteers around the globe, working effectively to improve membership retention, enhance chapter offerings and organize social good opportunities. She is a motivated speaker, appearing at over 15 PMI events in North America and Europe, and presenting on the overall benefits of PMI membership and volunteerism. 

Born in Montreal, Canada, Ms. Shannon is a graduate of Vanier College and McGill. She holds the Project Management Professional (PMP)®, PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA)® and Disciplined Agile® Senior Scrum Master (DASSM) certifications. She was awarded the Colin J. Morris Distinguished Contribution Award for PMI service from the PMI Toronto Chapter in 2020 and has received several Ted Rogers Innovation Awards.  

An advocate for lifelong learning, she continuously expands her knowledge by traveling and physically challenging herself with downhill skiing and sailboat racing.
