Ike Nwankwo

Ike Nwankwo has managed portfolios and led multimillion-dollar projects and programs across diverse sectors for multinational organizations throughout the United Kingdom and Africa for more than 28 years. He has worked closely with executive leadership to assist organizations in delivering tangible value through effective delivery of their organizational, strategic and transformation objectives. He is currently managing director at Distinct Management Ltd., an independent project management consultancy focused on transformation, strategy, leadership, IT and construction.
Mr. Nwankwo is a member of both the PMI United Kingdom Chapter and PMI Nigeria Chapter, as well as a longtime volunteer supporting the project management profession. He has assisted with multiple PMI initiatives, serving on the board of directors of the PMI Nigeria Chapter as vice president of finance (2013–2014) and president (2014–-2016), and as the PMI region mentor for Africa (2016–2020), where he strategized with chapter leaders and substantially grew membership across Africa.
He currently serves on the PMI Board of Directors (2021–2023) where, as a project sponsor, he facilitated the implementation of PMI’s new culture values and behaviors. He is the chair of the PMI Governance Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee. He also serves on the boards and committees of other project management organizations.
A PMI Leadership Institute Master Class graduate (2016), he holds a master’s degree in architecture (University of Nigeria), an MBA (Middlesex University, UK) and a certificate in Company Direction (Institute of Directors, UK) in addition to Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Prince2®, AgilePM®, Disciplined Agile® Senior Scrum Master (DASSM)®, PMO-P® and PROSCI® change management certifications.
Mr. Nwankwo has spoken at international conferences on the value of project management and humanizing project management and leadership and has co-authored a book on global leadership.
