Straight Talk with Sunil: We're Transforming

We’re transforming to better serve you.

Back in late 2017, PMI set out to redefine what it means to be a professional association, and to support you in becoming even more essential to the organizations you serve. We went directly to the market to talk with project, program and portfolio managers like you, and used that information to create a comprehensive transformation plan for PMI.

The plan is designed to:

  1. Sharpen our strategic focus;
  2. Focus PMI squarely on our customers and stakeholders at every phase of your careers; and
  3. Transform our own organization to be more agile and responsive to your needs.

After a little more than 60 days into my tenure here at PMI, I’ve been able to come up the learning curve on the transformation plan. I am truly excited about the progress that has been made so far, and am confident that we’re on the right track to better serve stakeholders like all of you. To this point, we have been mostly getting our internal house in order – updating the “plumbing” (as Joe Cahill calls it in the attached video) behind the scenes to modernize and improve our systems.

We’re now moving into a phase that is more directly customer-facing, and we want to begin to share more of that planning with you – and to get your feedback and inputs. With that in mind, I sat down with Joe Cahill, PMI’s EVP of Finance & Administration, for the next instalment of “Straight Talk with Sunil.” This is a high-level introduction of the transformation, and we will double-click on program details in future communications.
