As the Chief Growth Officer at PMI, Johannes Heinlein creates and drives the PMI customer strategy across B2B and B2C markets, maximizing customer acquisition, engagement, retention, and satisfaction. He looks after the strategy and evolution of our regional operating models, ensuring regional plans align with global strategy. And as the lead of the PMI Markets group, he oversees regions and all partner success and business development activities while forging strategic partnerships for PMI around the globe.

Before PMI, Johannes served as the Executive Vice President of the Wadhwani Foundation, where he led the Wadhwani Global Foundation's efforts in the US. Johannes previously was the Chief Commercial Officer and Senior Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at edX, where he worked directly with the leadership team and across the organization to define and deploy growth strategies across all of edX’s business lines. Under his leadership, edX grew from its 2 founding universities to over 180 world-leading content partners and thousands of edX for Business, edX for Education & edX for Government customers.

Prior to joining edX, Johannes served as director in the Office of the President and Provost of Harvard University, where he was responsible for the planning and execution of university-wide transformations in strategy and operations. Before Harvard, he worked in the public sector and for global industry leadersto develop and implement change management and program strategies. Johannes has led initiatives for Nike, Bayer, Mercedes-Benz Group, Chrysler, Deloitte, and other major corporations. He has worked withand for state and federal government entities in Germany, New Zealand, the United States, and the Commission of the European Communities.

Johannes has lived across Europe, Asia Pacific, and North America. Johannes studied at the University of Hamburg, Germany and holds postgraduate degrees from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland and the University of Strathclyde, Scotland. Johannes, his wife, and two children reside in Boston, where they have lived for the past 10+ years. He enjoys exploring and discovering new places, both those near and far. He likes to participate in sports and still dreams of participating in the Olympics.
