Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI) enters agreement with Pearson VUE to increase certification exam access

Bloomington, MN

Pearson VUE has entered into an agreement to provide computer-based-testing delivery services for the Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI), the leading not-for-profit professional membership association for the project management profession. PMI offers a comprehensive certification suite for practitioners with different levels of education and experience.

PMI’s associate level certification, the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®, is available throughout Pearson VUE’s global network of 5,600 test centers as well as via Pearson VUE’s online proctoring solution that allows test takers to sit for an exam at their home, school, company or other suitable testing location.

PMI has also agreed to collaborate to issue digital badges to future and existing PMI certification holders leveraging Pearson VUE’s Acclaim digital badging platform. Badges issued through Acclaim can be shared via popular networking sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, over email and other online destinations. They can be verified by clicking on the badge. Each badge includes metadata that shows who earned the credential, what was accomplished, and the organization that issued the badge. This portability and transparency make it easy for individuals to represent online their full range of abilities to academic institutions, employers and industry peers.

“We are proud to enter into both of these agreements with the Project Management Institute (PMI). Not only are we jointly supporting the PMIAA but also greatly increasing access to project management professionals taking the CAPM whether in a test center or via online proctoring,” said Bob Whelan, President, Pearson Assessments. “Paired with Acclaim digital badging, PMI’s certificants benefit not only from Pearson VUE’s test delivery service levels but are also able to promote themselves to employers.”
