The Project Management Institute (PMI),
the world’s leading not-for-profit professional membership association for the project, program and portfolio management profession, today announced that its vice president and general counsel, William Scarborough, J.D., has been selected for the prestigious 2016 Corporate Counsel Award by the Philadelphia Business Journal.
The annual Philadelphia Business Journal Corporate Counsel Awards honor the top attorneys practicing in the legal departments of corporations, associations and other private sector organizations in the Greater Philadelphia area. Other honorees of this year’s award include corporate counsel from GSI Health/Paul Ewing, SCA, the Philadelphia 76ers, Connor Strong & Buckelew, Kennedy Health, AnnieMac Home Mortgage, Glaxo Smith Kline, and Thomas Jefferson University.
As vice president and general counsel for PMI, William Scarborough manages legal responsibilities for an organization that has grown into one of the largest associations worldwide since its inception in 1969. Since joining as PMI’s first in-house counsel in 1999, Scarborough has provided the legal guidance and support that has led to PMI’s transformation from a small group of dedicated project managers operating out of a home in Delaware County into a global organization with several subsidiaries which include the acquisitions of Gantthead and Human Systems International.

Scarborough holds memberships in the National Association of Corporate Directors, Association of Corporate Counsel and Greater Delaware Valley, Association of Corporate Counsel and Philadelphia Bar Association. He received his JD degree from Duke University School of Law.
